Medis has once more topped the list of Outstanding Companies of 2012, just as it did in 2011. Creditinfo conducted an analysis, which shows which Icelandic companies scored highest in its evaluation of their strengths and stability, on the basis of certain key figures and criteria.
Of the more than 32,000 companies listed in the Register of Limited Companies, only 358 fulfill the strict requirements of Creditinfo’s strength assessments.
In the opinion of Creditinfo, in a small market such as Iceland’s, it is more important to highlight the strengths of a company that manifest themselves in their operational stability, rather than the results of specific fiscal years. This criterion is more likely to exclude the volatile results of bigger holding and parent companies and to focus more on the strengths of companies that are operating efficiently.
The following criterion is applied in Creditinfo’s assessment of whether a company fulfills the conditions of its strength evaluation:
- Have had a positive EBIT for the past three years
- Positive operating net profit for the past three years
- Credit score with a lower risk than 0.5%
- Equity ratio plus 20%
- Total assets > ISK 80,000,000
- Defined as a credit active company
